Yes Taurus bought the factory that made Beretta 92’s for the Brazilian military, but most of that equipment was retired a long time ago. So I’m very late getting into this discussion, but I feel I can offer something of value. Whichever configuration you get, it will be a great pistol IMO. Frankly, under current gun pricing, I'm not some what surprised they seem to be holding their price fairly well compared to other platforms.

Bud's Gun Shop has black for $344 with price match offer SS for $431, no price match - both free shipping + FFL. It is a great platform and really soft shooter.

While I have Kydex holster I prefer and use full leather OWB from DeSantis designed for Beretta 92A1 (002BAV6Z0 i- t accepts the 92 and wider slide PT100) both with rail. Older units don't have rail (prior to '92 I think). I'd stay with SS if possible or maybe a Tu-Tone (SS slide and accessories). Dings and nicks will show quite shiny (I use a Birchwood Casey Gun Blue pen to touch up). I expect back side recessed area behind muzzle sharp edges will be point of wear (and has been on those I've seen holstered a lot). The black finish varies also on mine - some dull some semi-matte. Hard to say as the only one I generally carry with any frequency is PT100 SS. I'm still leaning that way, but a shop near me is clearing out their blued ones and the cost difference is worth a second look.
How does the bluing hold up on these? I was thinking stainless, but that's when I thought I could sneak in under $400. The following is my bevy of PT92/99/100's CDNN Sports used to have a ton of them but appears only 10 and 20 rd currently.
